Day 23 Friday 28.11.2008 Position:S 74° 57,1' W 008° 43,4' Distance: 60km Elevatio: 2580m In the morning we were still a bit concerned that we would have enough wind to get up onto the plateau. About two hours or so later, the wind shifted to the north and all of a sudden we had to hang on for our lives. We kited in near whiteout conditions for another couple hours. Then our day ended rather abruptly when out of nowhere one of Armin's powerlines ripped. Fortunately Armin is ok but in the storm no repair attempts were possible. Actually it was hard enough to get the tent up. Maybe this too is part of a bigger picture we only glean flashes every once in a while, as right now this moment it feels like there are plenty of people pounding our tent with shovels. (wind gusts!) The noise is unbelievable and the tent is shaking wildly. We are happy to be 'inside'! ;) Via icemail we heard that there are students in Germany and Austria doing presentations in school about our expedition. This is very moving for us and we hope you guys have fun doing it! Also we would like to thank all of you who take the time to send us icemails - reading and contemplating them is often the highlight of the day!
