Day 18 Sunday 23.11.2008 Position: S 73° 58,6' W 009° 35,8' Distance: rest day/6km Elevation: 1470 This morning we both realized how beat our bodies are after 17 days of very demanding and exhausting physical activity without rest. Since the weather wasn't very good and of course no kiting conditions, we decided to relax, rejuvinate and heal. Also emotionally we are a bit down and noticing feelings of despair and loneliness visiting us - an image from Lord of the Rings comes to mind where they are crossing the swamps on their way to Mordor and the mountains. The terrain we are on feels like the swamps with the mountains rising in the distance. We can't remember what helped Frodo and his companions to get through the swamps... But this too is part of a journey such as we are undertaking. However, knowing about something and to experience that something are vastly different! In the afternoon the wind picked up and we decided to pack up and kite.
