Day 4![]() Sunday, 09.11.2008 Position: S71°24,2' W008°20,1' Distance: 13km Today the weather was quite moody and intense. In the morning no wind and clear blue sky. After a little while a storm was coming up from the Southwest. Heavy pounding winds and almost no visibility made it very difficult to move forward. Frequently the wind would blow the sleds up to 45° off the desired direction. Lots and lots of effort and little result. In the late afternoon we were visited by a very friendly and curious snow petrel. This lifted our spirits and we took it as a welcome sign to set up camp. In stormy conditions this needs lots of attention and presence. We hope the system is moving through quickly and that we will have kiting conditions tomorrow. 9 Nov, 08 - 18:39 | Dispatch library Aloha Antarctica – Never again? That was a close shave!
