Day 3![]() Saturday, 08.11.2008 Position: S71°17.5' W008°22.7' Distance: 21km After a crisp and clear night with temperature around -20°C and we finally had a good night sleep since our sleeping bags are rated -40°C and we were still sweating at -10°C the night before. Since it was windstill, we started manhauling under an endless bright blue sky and sunshine. We still have to get used to pulling 120+ kg sleds behind us, which feels like led. However we made great distance with 21km in 8h. The sastrugis were not too bad but hitting a lot of soft snow, one could swear a horse just jumped into the sled...I looked many times but it disappeared every time just before I could spot it... Thank you for all the Icemail we have been receiving - a most welcome treat! Please keep in mind however that it isn't possible for us to reply. 8 Nov, 08 - 20:51 | Dispatch library Aloha Antarctica – Never again? That was a close shave!
