Back in GermanyWe are back in Germany! Back to Christmas markets, rules and regulations and financial crisis. Back in civilization. By this very contrast it makes clear the realization that something in us has changed. The way we meet people, friends and family. The way we are experience news, world events, our personal connections and relationships to all of these things. Already in Cape Town we asked ourselves what would be different, if we had reached the South Pole. Our immediate and intuitive answer was ‘Nothing!’ Now that we are back from the solitude and isolation of the icecap and arrived in the world that we had left behind over one month ago, we get a better sense what has changed and shifted inside of us. Some things are still very obscure and vague – yet they are rising to the surface through the contrast. Other things are very clear, intuitively obvious now and seem to have consolidated and expanded our sense of self. We have entered into a much deeper relationship with ourselves than we could have dreamt about while still on the ice. And yet it was there where we have undergone a kind of transformation we still don’t quite fully understand ourselves. What would have thrown us off course before, now only creates experience without reaction. So as we meet our ‘old’ self in this familiar environment, it is an encounter full of amazement, full of change and a deep sense peace. It will take much more time to keep processing all experiences and insights but we are both happy and grateful to one another and ourselves having gone on this expedition and having experienced what has led to this most amazing and unpredictable inner movement and growth. Even though we did not reach the physical goal that has led us to engage in the preparation and journey itself, we do not keep holding on to what was but are enjoying and working on all the gifts and insights that have come through a very different way. We would like to thank each and every one of you who have participated in our journey and supported us through your thoughts, prayers, icemails and emails – you have been such a big part of our journey and we want to thank you all and wish you all the best from our hearts! This site will be continued to be updated with news from time to time. In the next days and weeks we will begin to look at and make use of all our raw picture and video material and put it online by and by. So, it’s worth it to keep coming back to Aloha-Antarctica every once in a while.
